The Pittsburgh Steelers, after finishing their 2025 NFL regular season with an overall record of 10-7, are set to host the Houston Texans in the final game of the wildcard playoff round at Acrisure Stadium.
The Texans head into this game as favorites, having won 12 out of their 17 regular season games this campaign, and the stage is set for what is touted to be a thrilling MNF wildcard round.
With both teams set to employ their best tactics and gameplay routines to emerge victorious in the fixture, one variable that could also influence the course of this fixture is weather, and the forecast suggests it will play a crucial role in this game.
With no rain or snow expected during the game, cold conditions are set to play a major role in tonight’s matchup, with AccuWeather projecting game-time temperatures in the 33–34 degree range along with winds of about 20 mph.
Geographically, some might argue that the Steelers are far more comfortable operating in freezing conditions, giving them a slight edge over the Texans since Houston plays in a dome and rarely deals with true cold-weather games.
DeMeco Ryans Shows Strong Belief in His Team Despite Cold Conditions
The Houston Texans, despite boasting a superior regular season record over the Steelers, will be playing away from home, and it won’t be easy, especially in conditions they’re not accustomed to.
However, the Houston-based franchise’s head coach, DeMeco Ryans, ahead of his side’s wildcard game, when asked about playing in cold conditions, entrusted his team to brave this weather with full confidence.
“Our team is ready to go anywhere, anytime, any place, we’re ready to go”, Ryans stated.
Ryan, while also speaking about his team’s chances against the Steelers, was confident of the Texans going all the way through the season on his side this season whilst also reflecting on the journey his squad had to endure to reach the playoff stage of the competition.
“I’m more proud of this team because of all the adversity we’ve had to face and everything we’ve overcome,” Ryans said. “We’re a really strong group. We know we can win in any way or fashion, and that’s why I’m more excited about this team heading into the playoffs”, Ryans revealed.
The winner of this wildcard game is slated to play the no. 2 seed New England Patriots in the divisional round.
