Nick Chubb and the Houston Texans take on the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday night in the final wild-card game. The running back is healthy and available for tonight’s postseason game.
The 2025 season has been almost completely injury-free for Chubb, apart from a minor rib injury in Week 14, which ruled him out of the Week 15 game against the Arizona Cardinals.
Some questions about his postseason availability lingered, since he missed Week 18’s victory over the Indianapolis Colts and had only one carry in Week 17’s victory over the Los Angeles Chargers. However, that was just a decision by the coaching staff to rest him with the postseason in mind.
Nick Chubb’s Numbers in The 2025 Regular Season
Nick Chubb had respectable numbers for an RB2 in the 2025 regular season. Chubb had 506 rushing yards (44th in the NFL), with three touchdowns (40th in the NFL) in 122 carries (44th in the NFL). That’s his best performance since 2022. While it’s a far cry from his 1000+ yard seasons with the Cleveland Browns, it’s a big improvement from 2023 and 2024.
His low contributions in the two previous seasons were due to an injury he suffered in 2023. Chubb dislocated his left knee, tearing his ACL, MCL, and meniscus. The injury required two surgeries and he played only two games.
In 2024, he played eight games after a stress fracture in December that caused a broken foot.
DeMeco Ryans Believes the Houston Texans Can Beat Anybody
Speaking ahead of the start of their postseason journey, Houston Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans expressed his belief that the team can go on to win it all this season:
“I’m more proud of this team because of all the adversity we’ve had to face and everything we’ve overcome,” Ryans said. “We’re a really strong group. We know we can win in any way or fashion, and that’s why I’m more excited about this team heading into the playoffs.”
With a record of 12-5, this has been the best season for the Texans under DeMeco Ryans’ tenure. In his previous two seasons, they had overall records of 10-7. In the postseason, they won in the Wild Card round both years, but lost in the divisional round.
