The NFL has released its top 100 players list for 2026, and Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson has found himself in an uncomfortable place. The league has decided that he isn’t even a top 50 player, placing him in the 69th spot.
Understandably, the decision was controversial for a huge section of the fandom. It didn’t take long for them to react to the news on social media, pointing out how surprising it is to see the signal-caller so low on the list.
“The most disrespected player in nfl history. 69 is crazy 🤢🤢😡,” wrote one fan
Some fans think that the entire list is dubious.
Some fans suggested there might be “recency bias.”
Some more fans thought it was disrespectful to Jackson.
Lamar Jackson was named the fifth-best quarterback in the NFL by ESPN
The NFL’s decision to name Lamar Jackson the 69th-best player in the league is more surprising when one considers that ESPN named him the fifth-best quarterback for the 2026 season.
On Monday, ESPN released a ranking of the top 10 quarterbacks in the NFL, based on the opinions of surveyed executives, scouts, and coaches. In this ranking, Lamar Jackson ended up as the fifth-best signal-caller in the nation.
An unnamed coach is quoted as follows, explaining what makes Jackson such a unique player nowadays.
“What’s so impressive is he has gotten better as a passer,” the coach said. “He’s more of a complete passer. It’s impressive. I really didn’t respect the passing game as much before in his career, but the last time we played him, he was much better. He can dice you up.”
Jackson has always been known as a high-running threat, but now he’s also turning into an elite dual-threat passer of the ball. An incredibly difficult asset for opposing defenses to read.
