In the NFL, primetime slots are usually reserved for teams that draw a lot of viewers. This means that not every team will have a time to shine on primetime, which often draw in the most viewers from all over the country. While some teams have a very rabid and loyal fanbase, sometimes those are not enough to draw in a national audience, and this has led five teams to be excluded from having any primetime games at all.
NFL insider Ari Meirov has reported that the five teams that will appear in absolutely no primetime games this season will be:
- New York Jets
- Miami Dolphins
- Las Vegas Raiders
- Tennessee Titans
- Arizona Cardinals
These five teams have loyal fanbases no doubt and would continue supporting their teams no matter what, but they will not be having any nationally televised primetime games. Teams like the Dolphins and the Jets have massive fanbases and are in big markets, but they were still not able to get any primetime schedules this season. There is also one factor that unites all these teams, and that is they are all below .500 and missed the playoffs.
The primetime slots for Thursday Night Football, Sunday Night Football and Monday Night Football are all reserved for teams that could draw in a massive amount of viewers, and this means that these teams did not draw as much given all their struggles last season.
Which NFL Teams Have the Most Primetime Games For 2026?
Meanwhile, on the other side of the spectrum, the same cannot be said for the Los Angeles Rams. The team is the centerpiece for the league’s primetime schedule with seven primetime games listed, all against some very tough opponents.
This is followed by four teams which have six primetime games each, and they include the Buffalo Bills, Green Bay Packers, Kansas City Chiefs and Seattle Seahawks. Four more teams have five primetime games each, and they are the Dallas Cowboys, Philadelphia Eagles and San Francisco 49ers.
