After getting fired from his job as the head coach of the Miami Dolphins, Mike McDaniel is back in the spotlight as he may be taking the job as the Los Angeles Chargers offensive coordinator. With this, many now look to his wife, Katie Hemstalk, as she may possibly be moving to Southern California along with him. They may also be taking their young daughter, Alya June, with them to the City of Angels.
She and Mike McDaniel married one another back in 2014, bit it was not until 2020 that they had their first and so far only child together. Katie has been very supportive of her husband during his days as the head coach of the Miami Dolphins and is often present to cheer the team on whenever they play.
Mike McDaniel has formed a close relationship with his wife, and here is how he describes her during a 2023 episode of “Hard Knocks:”
“My wife Katie is a Jedi master at investing into what it takes for me to operate,” he said. “So you kind of have a dichotomy of lives that is 100 percent fulfilling, but it’s a balance that I’m only able to pull off because of my wife and my daughter.”
His wife is known to be a professional esthetician and cosmetologist, with her being a licensed esthetician since 2005 and a licensed cosmetologist from 2011 to 2023. Despite her medical profession, she has moved with him wherever he coached, from Atlanta with the Falcons to San Francisco with the 49ers and then to Miami with the Dolphins. Now, she may be moving again, this time to Los Angeles.
Mike McDaniel Likes To Spend Time With Family During His Days Off
During the NFL season, players and coaches alike get a bye week to enjoy some rest and relaxation. For some, they like to go on trips, while others, such as Mike McDaniel, he loves to spend his rest days with his family, and he wants his players to do the same.
“So I’m a leader by example. I’m going to show these guys how to rest my butt off, and then when I’m not asleep, I’ll be daddying and husbanding,” he said in an interview with Fan Nation. “I’ll have some honey-dos. I’ll do my chores, because I won’t want to be in the doghouse.”
McDaniel also admits he loves playing with his daughter on his days off and might be wearing a special pair of shoes with painted headshots of him while at home.
