49ers Defensive Coordinator Candidates: Top 3 Robert Saleh Replacements After $6.3Bn Franchise Move

The San Francisco 49ers have lost one of the league’s best defensive coordinators, as Robert Saleh will now be going to the Tennessee Titans, a franchise worth $6.3 billion, as their next head coach. Saleh was responsible for the Niners’ defensive success this season as they made it to the Divisional Round of the playoffs despite numerous players suffering injuries.

Replacing Saleh would be a tall task, given how well he did throughout the season in making the Niners a defensive powerhouse despite all the injuries. They have reportedly already started interviewing a few candidates, and there are also a lot more names that the team should consider, including a few recently-fired head coaches.

3 Possible San Francisco 49ers Defensive Coordinator Candidates After Robert Saleh Left

    Raheem Morris

The former Atlanta Falcons head coach could be a very good candidate as the next San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator.

Morris is a very defense-minded coach and even won a Super Bowl as a defensive coordinator with the Los Angeles Rams, which means he knows how to create a championship defense. However, his time in Atlanta was quite fruitless, with the Falcons being one of the worst teams in the league. Despite this, his record as a DC has many teams trying to recruit him.

    Gus Bradley

Gus Bradley has a history of working together with San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan, as they were part of the coaching staff for the Seattle Seahawks. Bradley used to be the Seahawks DC, and his history with Shanahan could be a big boost for his chances in getting the job.

He used to be Saleh’s mentor when they were at the Seahawks together, so it would not be a surprise if the Niners bring him in.

    Jim Schwartz

There is a reason why the Cleveland Browns had one of the best defenses in the league, and that is their DC, Jim Schwarz. With Kevin Stefanski now out, Schwarz might be looking for a new job as well, and the Niners could be a good place. If the team wants defensive consistency, Schwarz will not be a bad pick either.
