Who Are Mike Evans’ Parents? A Look Into the Personal Life of the 49ers’ New WR

Mike Evans developed as a wide receiver with the Texas A&M Aggies from 2011 to 2013. He made the First-team All-SEC and was a Consensus All-American in the final year of his college career in Texas.

Evans’ good reputation in the college circuit earned him the first round, seventh overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. He was picked by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Evans had a great run in the 12 years he played for the Buccaneers.

He won a Super Bowl title, made six Pro Bowl appearances, was the NFL receiving touchdowns co-leader in 2023, and accumulated several NFL records, including Consecutive 1,000-yard receiving seasons to start a career with 11.

Evans’ motivation to excel at his craft comes from a troubled childhood. But his biggest strength has always been his mother, Heather Kilgore. Despite the difficult circumstances in his childhood, Heather did her best as a single mother to provide for Evans.

His father, Mickey Evans Jr., had a volatile relationship that began when Heather was 14 and Mickey was 19. In 2002, when Mike was nine, his father was murdered by his uncle, Sam Kilgore. Heather was a victim of domestic abuse, which made Evans’ uncle murder Mickey.

At such a young age, Evans couldn’t understand some of the things that were happening around him. The death of his father shook him. He later understood what prompted his uncle to take that drastic step. Evans was eventually able to forgive his uncle.

The star wide receiver is married to his wife, Ashli, and they have founded the Mike Evans Family Foundation, which works toward helping victims of domestic violence. Evans and Ashli have four kids together.

Mike Evans Has Joined the San Francisco 49ers

After a successful run with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Evans has joined the 49ers on a three-year, $60.4 million deal. As per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the deal includes $16.3 million guaranteed.

“The Buccaneers made it clear they would have loved for Mike to finish his career in Tampa and potentially become just the fourth player in franchise history to spend his entire career as a Buccaneer and ultimately walk into Canton representing the organization,” Evans’ agent Deryk Gilmore said in a statement.

He explained that Evans’ decision to leave Tampa Bay wasn’t motivated by money. The Buccaneers also tried their best to keep him. However, Evans is now looking for a new challenge in his career, and making this move made the most sense to him.
