Patrick Mahomes’ Kansas City Chiefs just added running back Kenneth Walker to their lineup. Walker was a second-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft by the Seattle Seahawks. He won the Super Bowl and the Super Bowl MVP with the Seahawks this year.
The Chiefs are doing everything they can to bounce back next season. They had their worst season run in 2025, where they failed to make the playoffs, and it marked the end of the celebrated Chiefs dynasty.
To make matters worse, their quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, suffered a season-ending torn ACL and LCL. Mahomes is currently recovering from the same and is expected to be back when the next season starts.
The quarterback is keeping an eye on every addition being made by the Chiefs organization. When Walker took to his X account to announce that he has officially joined the Kansas City Chiefs, the star quarterback welcomed his new teammate.
“LETS GO!!” he wrote with two flexed biceps emojis.
Walker had one of his best seasons last year. He had 1027 yards on 221 attempts with five touchdowns, which was a career low for him, during the regular season. In the postseason, he was one of the best players for the Seattle Seahawks.
He had 313 yards on 65 attempts with four touchdowns. The best thing about Walker’s last season with the Seahawks was that he didn’t miss a single game. He played in all 17 regular-season and three postseason matchups.
He also didn’t miss a single practice with the team and was a full participant throughout the season. Walker only appeared on the team’s injury report three times. All of this indicates that the Chiefs have signed not only a capable player but also someone who can be very consistent throughout the season.
The Chiefs Restructured Patrick Mahomes’ Contract
In February 2026, the Chiefs restructured Mahomes’ contract for the fourth consecutive year. It was a strategic move to free up more cap space so the Chiefs could sign more players during free agency.
The restructuring brought Mahomes’ salary cap number down to $34.65 million from $78.2 million. The Chiefs freed up $43.56 million in cap space with just one move. At the time, the decision sparked conversations on social media.
Fans wondered what the Chiefs were planning in preparation for the next season. Many assumed that the cap space would be used for Tyreek Hill, who became an unrestricted free agent for the first time in his career.
