Matthew Stafford’s contract extension came after his stellar 2025 NFL season. He won the first NFL MVP award of his career after throwing for a league-high 4,707 yards and 46 touchdowns.
The announcement came just before the start of organized team activities (OTAs) on May 26.
The 2026 NFL season will be Matthew’s 18th year in the league. He entered the NFL in 2009 when he was selected as the No. 1 pick by the Detroit Lions.
“What I don’t miss is the anxiety I used to get the night before every episode was released, wondering what headline was going to be created from the episode,” she explained. “It just felt like my name was in the headlines every week, and that is not what I wanted this podcast for.”
Because her stories about her marriage, family and NFL life were frequently picked up by entertainment blogs, the pressure began to detract from the fun of doing the show.
She originally paused the podcast back in October 2025 for four weeks. In November, she increased the hiatus.
Kelly shared a strong desire to pull back from external commitments to be fully present as a mother and a supportive wife.
“I feel this pull to get back to my roots, and to do that, I have to pour into the people I love most,” she posted on Instagram. “I’ve got a husband in the middle of one hell of a season, and I want to be fully locked in with him. I want to be present for my girls. I want to give my whole heart to the people who have always given theirs to me.”
