Kwesi Adofo-Mensah is the former general manager of the Minnesota Vikings. He started his career in 2013 with the San Francisco 49ers as the manager of football research & development. He stayed with the 49ers until 2019 and left after serving as the director of football research & development.
He had a short stop with the Cleveland Browns in 2020 and 2021 as vice president of football operations before becoming the GM of the Vikings in 2022. The 44-year-old was fired earlier today by the Vikings.
Outside of football, Adofo-Mensah leads a quiet life with his beautiful family. He is married to Chelsea Keaulani Adofo-Mensah, and they have been together for years. His family stays away from the limelight, so not a lot of information is available on them.
However, from Chelsea’s Instagram profile, it can be understood that they were dating before 2020. Chelsea made their relationship Instagram official with a post back in November 2020, and since then, it’s been a regular feature.
As per Chelsea’s Instagram, the couple got married around July 2022. They welcomed their first child a year later.
“Duke Kalei Kwesi Adofo-Mensah,” Chelsea revealed the name on Instagram. “We love you son. Being your mom is the biggest love I’ve ever experienced (besides loving your dad).”
Chelsea also revealed that their son’s name honors his Hapa and Ghanaian heritage.
The Vikings Have Fired Kwesi Adofo-Mensah
Adofo-Mensah’s firing comes as a shock to many because, in May 2025, he signed a contract extension with the team. He was expected to at least serve his team before any decision on his future was to be made.
Despite the contract extension, the Vikings decided to part ways with Adofo-Mensah. The team made that announcement on social media with an official statement.
“Following our annual end-of-season organizational meetings over the last several weeks and after careful consideration, we have decided it is in the best interest of the team to move forward with new leadership of our football operations. These decisions are never easy. We are grateful for Kwesi’s contributions and commitment to the organization over the past four years and wish him and his family the best in the future,” the statement read.
The team also announced that their executive vice president of football operations, Rob Brzezinski, will lead operations through the 2026 NFL Draft. The team believes in his experience and hopes he’ll build a solid roster for the next season.
