Cam Newton Net Worth: How Much Does Former NFL MVP Quarterback Make?

Cam Newton is one of the most electrifying quarterbacks to have ever played in the league. To this day, fans have the fondest memories of his MVP season with the Carolina Panthers in 2015, just four years after he won the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year.

Newton last played in the NFL in 2021 with the Panthers. Interestingly, he never officially retired from the league. He never filed the retirement papers with the NFL after his last stint, so technically, he isn’t retired.

However, as per the rules, a player is considered retired if they don’t sign a new contract within a year of their last contract’s expiration. It’s been nearly five years since his last stint, so Newton is referred to as a former player.

He had a decade-long run in the league. Newton made a lot of money during his NFL stint. From his contracts alone, he made over $133 million. He signed the biggest deal of his career with the Panthers in 2015, a five-year, $103 million deal.

As per Celebrity Net Worth, his net worth in 2026 is estimated to be $50 million. Newton now works in the media and has his own podcast as well. On an episode of 4th&1 With Cam Newton, he talked about how drastically his financial situation has changed post retirement.

“I’m used to a million dollars a month,” Newton said. “What in the world can I do make me a million dollars a month legally. A week, I’m sorry I keep saying a month, a week. Think about that, there’s nothing that I have created yet, that can provide a million dollars in a week.”

Most athletes go through this phase after retirement. However, Newton has still amassed a lot of money and continues to make more with his work with ESPN and others.

Cam Newton on Shedeur Sanders’ Pro Bowl Selection

The Cleveland Browns quarterback, Shedeur Sanders, wasn’t originally a part of the Pro Bowl. Weeks later, players started getting injured with season-ending injuries, and the New England Patriots qualified for the Super Bowl.

That opened up space for Sanders as Drake Maye opted out because of the Super Bowl. Many still believe that Sanders didn’t earn the Pro Bowl nod, so he shouldn’t be celebrated for it. Newton has a more nuanced take on it.

“When you talk about how did Shedeur make it and they ain’t even got Trevor Lawrence? Man, look, bro, it’s a popularity contest at the end of the day. Because it’s still a business,” he said.

Newton believes that despite his underwhelming run in his rookie season, Sanders brings a lot of fans to every game he plays. The NFL wants to bank on that by having him in the Pro Bowl.
