Justin Herbert Breaks Silence On Zero Playoff Wins As Chargers Lose Third Wild Card In 5 Years

Justin Herbert has had a stellar year for 2025 and has led the Los Angeles Chargers into the playoffs. However, as they played in the Wild Card Round, he ran into an old enemy that has been haunting him for years: losing in the Wild Card Round. He has now lost three Wild Card games in five years, leading many to question his ability to lead a team.

He has had zero playoff wins so far in his career, sparking criticisms and memes online. He was asked about the fact that he has struggled in the playoffs during the post-game, and he admitted that he has yet to figure things out.

““I haven’t figured it out yet.” Justin Herbert told reporters.

For the 2025 season, Justin Herbert has made 512 attempts, completing 340 of them and having a completion rate of 66.4%. He also has 3,727 passing yards and 26 touchdowns, with 13 interceptions for the year. However, his numbers for the regular season often mean nothing once faced with his current playoff record, which is still winless.

The New England Patriots smothered Herbert with their tight defense, forcing him to fumble in the fourth quarter to ensure the 16-3 Wild Card victory. He did add that the team does need to improve, but what would happen next is still up in the air.

“We have to do better than three points,” Herbert said. “As an offense, that’s not good enough. The quarterback play wasn’t good enough, and we let the defense down today.”

How Well Did Justin Herbert Play Vs. New England Patriots?

In contrast to how he played during the regular season, Justin Herbert struggled during the Wild Card round, though many attributed it to just how well the Patriots’ defense has been smothering him throughout the game on Sunday.

The Chargers never scored a touchdown, with Herbert throwing 31 passes and connecting on 19 of them for 159 yards. He also led the team in rushing yards with 55, but it was clear that the Patriots were in control through most of the game.

He also made some crucial mistakes, such as him going for a nine-yard rush instead of passing to a wide-open Ladd McConkey who could have scored a touchdown at that point.
