There isn’t a consensus among analysts about where Ty Simpson would land in the 2026 NFL Draft.
While most analysts believe Simpson is a first-round pick, they argue about whether he should go to the Steelers, the Cardinals, or the New York Jets.
Some analysts even spoke about the possibility of Simpson facing a fate similar to Shedeur Sanders, who was widely projected to go in the first round but not many people could pinpoint where, and eventually slid out till the fifth round.
CBS Sports’ Beanie Wells recently heaped praise on Simpson and said the NFL would be crazy to have him slide out of the first round while also drawing a bold comparison with Bills star Josh Allen.
“Somebody who doesn’t necessarily need a quarterback day one, but someone that has an aging quarterback. Yes, the Rams, Pittsburgh, any of these aging quarterbacks. Put him in there. He has a big arm. He reminds me of Josh Allen, a guy that throws guys open, sneaky athletic, that you don’t anticipate pulling a ball down, running it, and getting you those 15 yards. He’s definitely going to be a star in the making, granted, if he goes to the right situation. Josh Allen, that’s some high praise there for Ty Simpson,” Wells said.
Todd McShay Makes Bold Case for Cardinals to Take Ty Simpson
Todd McShay has Ty Simpson going to the Arizona Cardinals in his mock draft for the 2026 NFL Draft. Simpson had a private workout earlier this week with the Cardinals, fueling McShay’s prediction for the potential union.
McShay explained his ideology where the Cardinals could trade up to get Simpson from 34th overall on the second night to the third-last pick of Day 1.
The analyst explained that Simpson would be a good fit for Mike Lafleur’s idea of what he wants to do with the franchise and also pointed out how they can use it to get a better pick for the 2027 NFL Draft.
“Why not take a hack this year, he wouldn’t have to play right away,” McShay said.
McShay further said when Simpson gets on the field later in the season, the franchise can decide whether he is the guy, and if it’s not in his favor, they can draft Arch Manning or Dante Moore next year.
