Joe Burrow Kentucky Derby Outfit: What Bengals Star QB Wore to the Star Studded Event

The 152nd Kentucky Derby was held on May 2 featuring a number of celebs and athletes across different sports. Cherie DeVaux became the first ever female trainer to take the victory home. Popular stars who attended the event include Joe Burrow, Bill Belichick, Patrick Mahomes, Nikola Jokic, and more.

Burrow is usually known for making great fashion choices, but his latest appearance at the Kentucky Derby had fans questioning his taste in fashion. The Cincinnati Bengals quarterback arrived at the 152nd Kentucky Derby in an outfit that was quite not fitting for the event.

Burrow wore a light pink suit paired with a simple gray T-shirt underneath. He completed the look with a maroon hat. The Kentucky Derby encourages people to wear expressive colors with bold accessories. Burrow’s look aligned with that dress code, but the final display of his look sparked mixed reactions from the audience.

Some felt the gray T-shirt made the look feel way too casual for an event which is known for upscale fashion. Others believed the overall combination lacked the spark expected from a player who has built his reputation as a style icon.

Overall many people online labelled the look as “underdressed”.

Burrow has previously walked fashion runways, appeared on magazine covers, and named one of the 93 Most Stylish People of 2022 as per New York Times. And when someone with that profile shows up, the bar is automatically set higher.

What Fans Had to Say About Joe Burrow’s Outfit

A user wrote: “It’s supposed to be a nice dressed classy outfit event and this is ridiculous.”

“Come on Joe you always dress to the nines. So what’s up with you at the Ky Derby?” another user wrote.

“He’s wearing a tshirt? 😂 cmon son,” another wrote.

“Joe Burrow does deserve criticism for not wearing an appropriate outfit.” another added.

Most people trolled Burrow, however not everyone was against the outfit.

“He’s an athlete not a model. Who cares what he’s wearing,” one user wrote.

“He’s the hottest qb and should be a model everyone knows this,” another added.

While women’s outfits often take center stage in such event, men are also expected to wear vibrant colors, patterns, and polished styling. Compared to some of the more elaborate looks seen at the Derby, Burrow’s outfit came across as relatively under-styled.

Overall whether you love it or hate it, his Kentucky Derby look did exactly what high-profile fashion moments are supposed to do: get people talking.

Burrow continues to push his personal style in ways that keep him in the spotlight beyond football.
