Over the last few years, Taylor Swift has become a regular feature at NFL events. The popular singer-songwriter is engaged to the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, Travis Kelce, and they’re recognized as a power couple.
The NFL Honors event was on Thursday night. Several prestigious league awards were on the line, and the winners were to be announced during the ceremony. Kelce was nominated for an award at the event as well.
The expectation was that Swift would attend the banquet to support Kelce. Hours before the event, a clip went viral on social media, showing the seating arrangement for Kelce. The Chiefs star was seated next to his brother, Jason.
Jason was expected to attend the event with his wife, Kylie. However, there was no word on Swift’s presence at the NFL Honors. The event was broadcast and was viewed by NFL fans around the world.
Throughout the broadcast, Swift was not shown on the screen. The musician didn’t attend the event. Despite that, some fans were still unsure about her presence because Swift prefers to avoid the cameras when she’s at NFL events or games.
Even during the season, whenever she attended the Chiefs’ games, she went largely unnoticed due to security reasons. But for this particular event, it’s now confirmed that Swift wasn’t in attendance.
Kelce was nominated for the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year award, which honors a player’s commitment to philanthropy and community impact along with their on-field performance throughout the season.
Bobby Wagner, linebacker for the Washington Commanders, won the award. At the event, when Wagner and Kelce crossed paths backstage, the Chiefs star congratulated Wagner for his win.
Is Travis Kelce Retiring?
This year marked the end of the Chiefs’ dynasty. Kelce’s team struggled throughout the season, which was unheard of during their decade-long dominance. To make matters worse, they lost their quarterback toward the end.
The Chiefs failed to make the playoffs this year, for the first time since 2015. With that, rumors about major changes within the franchise started to float around. One of those said changes is allegedly Travis Kelce’s retirement.
The tight end is 36 years old and has now denied the possibility of hanging up his boots this year. For now, Kelce is not thinking about football or his career. He is focused on spending more time with his loved ones.
