“Everything Doesn’t Have To Be Perfect”: Jamies Winston Shares Heartwarming Message On Jaxson Dart-Abdul Carter Incident

A lot is going on between New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart and defensive star Abdul Carter. The Giants drafted both of them in the first round last year but since US President Donald Trump’s rally in New York last week, the two have shared their political differences.

The latest to join this saga is veteran Giants quarterback Jameis Winston, who used this opportunity to share an optimistic outlook within the locker room. Winston spoke at length so that everyone could understand where his perspective is coming from.

“I’m from a city where a little nine-year-old girl who decided to march got put in jail for volunteering her right of free speech, for standing on what she believes in,” Winston said. “That’s history, and I believe history repeats itself. But I also believe in respecting authority, respecting, treating a man and a woman as I would like to be treated. That is how uncomfortable situations and uncomfortable times have unified people. Because you know them, you realize from them, and you grow from them.”

While it was clear Winston was not taking sides in the fellow quarterback Dart, the veteran signal-caller respects individual choices and how, despite the circumstances, their team is united.

“We’ve got a blond-haired, blue-eyed white kid and a Black Muslim religion, Black kid, who are coming together and showing y’all, showing the world that we can come together,” Winston said. “We don’t have to see everything — everything doesn’t have to be viewed in this perfect little snow globe, and everything doesn’t have to be perfect. But we have to support each other.

“At the end of the day, as a team, I promise you it is our burning desire to find ways to unify, to come together, and to be great football players, and what does football encompass? What does sport encompass? Sport encompasses diversity, sport encompasses people that literally we get the chance to experience failures and success with all of y’all, the people that write, the people that sit there and watch in the stands, and the home viewers that just have their opinion. We all are experiencing this together.”

Latest on Donald Trump Saga Between Abdul Carter and Jaxson Dart

Last week in New York, Jaxson Dart introduced Donald Trump in a rally. Abdul Carter showed his disappointment with Dart’s choice, but he also added that both are in good terms despite what social media was trying to make out of the situation.

Recently, during the OTAs, Dart gave a statement, sharing his reason why he introduced Trump at the rally.

“This was a unique opportunity, being asked and given the opportunity to introduce the President of the United States,” he said. “My thinking was pretty simple. I’ve always loved this country. I have extended family members who have fought in wars. I have two uncles who retired from the Air Force Academy and served. I even have a great-grandfather who served as the Secretary of Treasury at some point. So the president position has always been a position that I’ve well respected, regardless of political affiliation. My intentions were just that.

“I also understand in this world, politics can be a sensitive matter. I also understand that I am the quarterback of the New York Giants, and that involves a lot of responsibility. It’s under a limelight, under a microscope. And there’s a lot that comes with that. It’s been something that I’ve embraced. I’ve loved being here. There’s not another place that I would rather be. Most importantly, the people in this organization — and my teammates — I’ve loved making relationships with them. That’s the kind of person I am. I’m a connector. I love hearing everybody’s stories and being somebody who people can rely on to be there for them.”

Carter was not available on Friday as he was observing Eid al-Adha, an important Muslim holiday. But Dart revealed that he and Carter have talked about it, and they are close to each other.
