The Mike Vrabel and Dianna Russini controversy was among the biggest storylines of the 2026 offseason, which started after the two were spotted at an adults-only resort in Sedona, Arizona.
While both of them denied the allegations that they had been in a relationship at first, with Vrabel calling the story “laughable”, he later ended up missing the NFL draft day 3 to seek counseling. He even said he hasn’t been acting up to the standards he holds for himself.
While Vrabel’s consequences were limited to missing one day of work, Russini quit her job at “The Athletic” after the organization began an internal investigation into her.
Talking about whether Russini would ever return to the NFL as an insider on Monday, Adam Jones and Rich Keefe shared their thoughts and said they don’t believe it will happen.
“Even if her podcast is about movies and TV, people are going to be tuning in and be like, can you at least talk about this, and then we can move on? If she does anything like that in the public eye again, I’m saying she’s going to have to talk about it. Even if, yeah, I don’t think she’s going to be breaking news of injuries in the NFL anymore,” Keefe said.
”I don’t think anybody’s No coaches are going to be allowed to give her any more information cuz their wives are going to have a lot of questions,” Jones added.
“So, like, I get Nick’s point, like, wouldn’t she have done this already? But then, if you had to bet between her never speaking again,” Keefe posed the question.
“Oh no, she’ll talk about it,” Jones replied.
Podcasters Discuss if Mike Vrabel Would Face the Heat About Dianna Russini in the 2026 NFL Season
While it has been three months since the whole Vrabel-Russini story broke out, and while most of the conversation has now died down, Chris Jones and Rich Keefe discussed if it would be reignited during the season.
Jones predicted that the Vrabel and Russini conversation would take place in week 1 of the season, noting that while the news has been widely covered locally, there is still curiosity about the situation nationally.
“Nationally, that will be big and dominant, I think then, it will be,” Jones said.
Many analysts also highlight that if the Patriots are doing well in the first few weeks of the season, the Russini conversation wouldn’t really take place; however, if it’s not the case, the scandal might make headlines again.
