Jadeveon Clowney is still on the market, which can only mean that the pass rusher is waiting for the right opportunity. After producing at least 8.5 sacks in two of the last three seasons, Clowney should have plenty of options.
However, some make more sense than others. Here’s a look at five potential landing spots for the journeyman pass-rushing producer.
Jadeveon Clowney Landing Spots that Make Sense
#5 – Dallas Cowboys
With the addition of three defensive ends in the NFL draft, it’s clear that Jerry Jones is emptying the clip on creating a pass rush that can be better than it was with Micah Parsons. Adding Jadeveon Clowney could be yet another lever to pull. Of course, Clowney is coming from Dallas, so a return would be conveinient, if Clowney is willing to take a discount and a mentor role at age 33.
#4 – Cincinnati Bengals
The Cincinnati Bengals have put together some moves to help transition away from Trey Hendrickson, including the addition of Dexter Lawrence. However, to completely turn the page, it could take someone like Jadeveon Clowney. The Bengals have a lot of work to do to help turn the defense from a weakness to a strength, and Clowney could be one such option.
#3 – Carolina Panthers
The Carolina Panthers have a lot of pressure to capitalize on its newfound respect in the NFC South. However, to do so, the team’s defense will need to get better. Jadeveon Clowney could be part of the solution. After being notably productive in recent years and leading a career that has produced 66.5 total sacks (Pro Football Reference) Clowney might have a new case to present to Carolina, a team he played for in 2024.
#2 – Arizona Cardinals
The Arizona Cardinals spent plenty of capital on changing the offense, but might have let some things slide on the defensive side. Arizona could remove all doubt by adding Jadeveon Clowney. With a young core building on offense, it makes sense to load the defense with more veterans.
#1 – San Francisco 49ers
The San Francisco 49ers finished last in sacks by a wide margin. As such, there is no reason to stop adding pass rushers just because the NFL draft is over. The pickings in free agency are notably shrinking, so getting another potential breakout pass rushing candidate won’t hurt things.
