The Seattle Seahawks were put up for sale 10 days after they beat the New England Patriots 29-13 in Super Bowl 60 on Feb. 8. Now, it appears that Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has emerged among the frontrunners to buy the franchise.
On Saturday, Bezos was reported as the favorite to buy the Seahawks on the prediction platform, Polymarket, with a 26% chance.
However, there is still no real confirmation that Bezos will buy the team. There are also no reports suggesting he has submitted a bid, formed a group, or reached an agreement for a deal.
Bezos has reportedly been interested in buying the Seahawks since 2023. He reportedly spent three decades in Seattle, having founded his Amazon company in a Bellevue garage.
Bezos is now reportedly worth $221.6 billion as per Forbes, making him the fourth-richest man in the world.
How Much Are The Seattle Seahawks Worth?
According to Forbes, the Seahawks are valued at $6.7 billion. However, the franchise is expected to be sold for much more than its current value.
Per reports, the Seahawks could be sold for between $9 billion and $11 billion, which would set a new record for the highest price paid for an NFL franchise.
Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen bought the Seahawks in 1997 from Ken Behring for around $194–$200 million. Following Allen’s death in 2018, the Seahawks have been owned by the Paul G. Allen Trust, with his sister, Jody Allen, serving as chairwoman and trustee.
The Seahawks have won two Super Bowls. Their first big game triumph came in 2014.
While there is still uncertainty about the Seahawks’ ownership heading into the 2026 season, their coach, Mike MacDonald, is fully committed to building on the team’s success, having won the Super Bowl in his second season at Seattle.
