Texans GM Nick Caserio Shuts Down ‘Moronic’ CJ Stroud Trade Rumors After Disasterclass In Playoff Exit

Houston Texans quarterback CJ Stroud had a great rookie season in 2022, being named the Offensive Rookie of the Year. He’s been a solid starting quarterback for Houston, bringing them to the postseason in each of his first three seasons.

However, despite making Houston a consistent playoff team in the AFC, the Texans have never gotten past the divisional round, and Stroud played horribly during this year’s two postseason games against the Pittsburgh Steelers and New England Patriots. Stroud threw three touchdowns and six interceptions while losing two fumbles on five total fumbles. He barely completed more than half of his passes with a 51.9 completions percentage.

But despite Stroud’s big playoff meltdown, Texans general manager Nick Caserio isn’t feeding into any of the rumors about the team potentially trading Stroud. Per ESPN NFL reporter Adam Schefter, Schefter Tweeted this morning that Caserio called speculation of trading Stroud “moronic” while insisting that the team won’t be trading Stroud.

CJ Stroud Is Grateful For Playing Struggles

CJ Stroud is embracing the struggles.

Via Fox26 Houston, Stroud opened up in a recent interview about his playoff struggles from this past season, saying that he’s grateful for the suffering and that people were able to see it.

Stroud is a big believer that he will bounce back strong in 2026 after the way last season ended. He will enter the fourth season of his NFL career at the age of 24 and still has a lot of room for growth.

Stroud has shown that he’s been a consistent winner, having gone 28-18 as a starter for Houston in three regular season. He has a 3-3 postseason record and will look to make it to the conference championship for the first time in franchise history this season.
