The Houston Texans made a late-season run last year, winning its final nine games of the regular-season to finish its regular season with a 12-5 record while appearing the playoffs.
The Texans’ season ended with a Divisional Round playoff loss to the New England Patriots, but the Texans had one the best defenses in the league that carried their success.
As the Texans turn th page to the 2026-2027 season, they’ve been one of the more active teams in free agency, re-signing a key number of free agents, re-signing multiple players, and being in a few trades.
Texans’ Free Agent Signings
It’s been a busy offseason for the Houston Texans, who have added eight new players via free agency. Houston made an emphasis to beef up the trenches on both sides, by signing new three offensive lineman and adding a pair of edge rushers.
Here’s a look at who the Texans have added this offseason:

The Houston Texans re-signed DE Danielle Hunter, TE Dalton Schultz, DT Sheldon Rankins, S M.J. Stewart, E.J. Speed, G Ed Ingram, K Ka’imi Fairbarn, and DT Naquan Jones. The Texans also acquired running back David Montgomery via trade from the Detroit Lions and punter Kair Kroeger from the New Orleans Saints.
Texans’ Free Agent Departures
The Houston Texans lost a number of players this offseason, most notably defensive tackle Tim Settle Jr. The Texans lost a few offensive weapons in wide receiver Christian Kirk, and running back Joe Mixon, who was sidelined all of last season with a mysterious foot injury.
