“Getting Disrespectful”: Jaxon Smith-Njigba Left Stunned After Offensive Player of the Year Trophy Blunder

After helping lead the Seattle Seahawks to the Super Bowl, wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba was awarded the AP Offensive Player of the Year. He finally received his trophy but he was not very happy when he received it, and that is because the trophy had a very crucial mistake.

“It’s getting disrespectful at this point,” he noted.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba won the 2025 Offensive Player of the Year award. However, as the photo shows, the trophy he received was for the 2025 Defensive Player of the Year. Smith-Njigba is definitely not a defensive player, even though his team is known for having one of the best defenses in the league, so his shock at this mistake is understandable, saying that he really wants to “expose them.”

While the Seahawks defense smothered opponents, Jaxon Smith-Njigba led the league in receiving yards with 1,793. He was named an All-Pro last season, as well as scoring 10 touchdowns for the Seahawks. When the Seahawks arrived at the post-season, he then shined even more, getting 199 receiving yards for 17 catches and two touchdowns. His best was against the Los Angeles Rams, getting a 153-yard catch during the NFC Final.

Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett was the one who won he actual defensive player of the year award, though it is uncertain if his trophy said “offensive player of the year.” For now, Smith-Njigba is living with the mistake the trophy makers made, mix-up or not.

For now, the wide receiver is enjoying his time off the field as the Seahawks slowly prepare for their Super Bowl title defense when September begins. The team will have a few changes, though it will still be anchored by its defense.
