Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders may not have proved himself in the NFL yet, but he carries a celebrity status from his time with the Colorado Buffaloes, where he played under his father, Pro Football Hall of Famer Deion Sanders.
An X user by the username Dov Kleiman posted a behind-the-scenes video of Sanders’ photoshoot on Sunday. The quarterback can be seen wearing layered jewelry and a luxury watch while photographers and stylists worked around him.
Not everyone is happy about such a portrayal of Sanders. Former Super Bowl champion Rex Ryan went a step further and called out the Browns quarterback for his alleged “me” over “we” attitude.
“Get a load of this kid… Great talent needs to realize as a “franchise” QB there has to be more we than me… Cmon man… #Browns #NFL #dawgpound #Growup,” Ryan wrote on X.
Ryan, the defensive coordinator for the Baltimore Ravens when they won Super Bowl XXV, might be suggesting that Sanders is promoting himself too much this offseason and that he must embrace a team mentality to achieve anything in the NFL.
Shedeur Sanders Names Key Browns Personnel Who Helped Him In Rookie Season
Shedeur Sanders entered the 2025 NFL draft with first-round projections, but it wasn’t until the fifth round that a team called his name. The Browns picked him up 144th overall after they had already picked quarterback Dillon Gabriel in the third round.
Sanders knew his position in the quarterback room with names such as Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, and Gabriel when the preseason started. As the season progressed, the Browns traded Pickett and Flacco and after Gabriel’s concussion, Sanders got the opportunity to make his first NFL start. He held on to a win, making him the first Browns rookie of this century to do so.
In his latest 18-minute video on his YouTube channel, titled Shedeur Sanders: A Short Film, the quarterback admitted that his first season was a “high-pressure situation.” He added that former Browns defensive back Tony Brown helped him a lot through this phase.
“I know within myself what Imma do, and I know how dedicated I am to being great,” Sanders said. “So, everything else don’t matter because I know what it takes to get to that point, to get to that feeling, to have that confidence. But it was like for a second, and I lost that. And I can know that I look back and for a second I definitely lost it. It’s just being in the environment without anybody initially you could lean on. That’s how me and [Tony] got cool. It was like you going from a situation in a period to where you have that factor every day to everybody on their own.”
Sanders also added that he doesn’t respect those who support him from afar, but not when it comes to being involved in daily conversations.
