Former NFL star J.J. Watt and his wife, Kealia Ohai Watt, were at MetLife Stadium to watch the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on Sunday. Spain and Argentina are facing each other in the highly anticipated final.
Watt shared a photo with his wife from the balcony of the stadium on X. He wore an all-white summer look, while Kealia was in a chic all-black outfit.
“World Cup Final. Bucket List. Very Grateful,” Watt wrote.
Watt’s wife, Kealia, is a former soccer star who played as a midfielder and forward for eight seasons in the National Women’s Soccer League. She represented the Houston Dash and Chicago Red Stars and has scored 35 goals. She is also well known for scoring the game-winning goal against Germany in the 2012 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup final.
J.J. Watt Receives Apology From Real Salt Lake After Failing to Recognize Kealia
The FIFA World Cup Final post comes just days after J.J. Watt criticized Real Salt Lake for welcoming him to a friendly match between MLS squad Real Salt Lake and the EFL’s Burnley FC but failing to recognize Kealia’s decorated soccer career. The couple is a minority stakeholder in Burnley FC.
Real Salt Lake shared a photo of the couple coming out of the tunnel and wrote:
“Welcome to the Riot, @JJWatt and fam.”
The account made a crucial mistake by not recognizing Kealia individually despite her impressive accolades in the sport. Watt called out the account as he wrote:
“The woman in the photo grew up literally down the road, won 4 Utah state championships (1 in this exact stadium), Gatorade Player of the Year twice, National Player of the Year, scored the fastest first goal in USWNT history… Could probably be worth a mention, but idk.”
Watt’s wife won four Utah state championships, starred at the University of North Carolina and captured the 2012 NWSL title with the Houston Dash. The club later apologized and said it should have mentioned Kealia’s name as well.
“When we welcomed the Watt family to America First Field, we should have recognized Kealia Watt for exactly who she is,” the account wrote.
Watt previously called out ABC13 Houston as well for its article on Kealia’s trade from the Dash to the Red Stars because the publication recognized her as Watt’s fiancée.
