“Thought the Locs Was the Problem”: Fans React as C.J. Stroud Debuts Dramatic New Look Following Texans’ Divisional Loss

Heading into the 2026-2027 NFL season, Houston Texans quarterback CJ Stroud will be rocking a new hairstyle.

Stroud, who has been rocking dreadlocks with longer hair since his rookie season, looks almost unrecognizable after he posted pics/clips of him getting his hair cut, rocking a short taper fade.

    Here’s the look:

As life goes on, change in any way is either wanted or necessary, or both. After the Houston Texans suffered an embarrassing 28-16 AFC Divisional round playoff loss, in which Stroud threw four first-half interceptions, Stroud decided to enter the upcoming season with a new look, hoping to ditch everything behind him from last season.

As expected, some fans had a field day on social media replying to Stroud’s decision to cut his hair. Some fans joked that the dreadlocks weren’t the issue while others think he should care less about his appearance.

Here’s how fans reacted to Stroud’s new look:

“thought the locs was the problem,” one fan replied.

“Still the worst QB in playoff history, we see you dawg, dreadlocks or not,” a Steelers fan said
“Time to grow up. Be a professional man even in appearance,” a fan responded following Stroud’s new look and short hair.
“Worry less about how your hair looks worry more about throwing less intercepts in an NFL playoff game. He was the reason Houston lost to NE. If I’m a Texan defenseman I’m pissed at Stroud,” a fan responded following the haircut.
“Bros Bryce young,” a fan joked.

The Houston Texans Have Never Won A Divisional Round Playoff Game

Since entering the NFL in 2023, CJ Stroud has helped lead the Houston Texans to the playoffs. Stroud has had success in his three seasons, going 28-18 as a starter while throwing for over 10,000 yards and 75 touchdowns.

The Texans won the AFC South in each of his first two seasons and made the Pro Bowl this season as a Wild Card team. Just like the last two seasons, the Texans earned a Wild Card playoff win before running into a buzz saw in the Divisional Round.

It isn’t just Stroud that hasn’t been able to overcome the hump of the Divisional Round. The Texans, as a franchise, have gone 0-7 all time in the Divisional Round of the playoffs, which have all occurred in the last 15 years.
As the Texans enter Year 4 under Stroud, they should consider contemplating what his future is with the franchise if they are unable to make it past the Divisional Round for a fourth-straight season.
