“This Isn’t the Cheerleaders Locker Room”: Fans React as Bill Clinton Crashes Cowboys Press Conference

The Dallas Cowboys are preparing for the NFL Draft with a press conference that included owner Jerry Jones and a surprise visitor. As the team was conducting its regular pre-draft press conference, the event was interrupted by the appearance of President Bill Clinton.

As soon as Clinton entered the press room, Jerry Jones stood up to greet him and hug him, with both men visibly happy to see each other.

Fans couldn’t avoid making jokes that the elderly Clinton was in one of his infamous escapades, probably without the knowledge of his wife, Secretary Hillary Clinton.

“Sorry Bill. This isn’t the cheerleaders locker room,” wrote one person

Did we just take a trip down memory lane?

“Cowboys stop a press conference for Bill Clinton, that’s the most disciplined they’ve been in the red zone since the 90s,” said another person

Fans were just astonished at how the NFL works.

“Only in the NFL does a pre-draft presser get paused for a former president walking in like it’s a casual meetup 😭😂,” wrote one surprised fan

Should the office of the president always be respected?

“It’s called respect regardless of what people think about him,” claimed another fan

Is this all bread and circuses, as always with Dallas? Or are things about to change for the Cowboys?

“This distraction is a microcosm of the circus that is the Dallas Cowboys & why they cannot get over the hump. Jerry Jones is too concerned with pageantry. Make it about football and only football & see the culture change and success follow,” explained one person

“cowboys really just hit pause on the whole pre-draft presser for bill clinton lmao this is peak dallas chaos,” said someone else

Fans in general just found it funny.

“lmao bill clinton and jerry jones acting like besties mid draft presser 😂,” joked someone

Are Dallas Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones and President Bill Clinton Friends?

Jerry Jones and President Clinton are longtime friends, with their friendship dating back to their time in Arkansas politics and business. Both men are locals of the Natural State, both having lived in Fayetteville and Little Rock at one point or another.

President Clinton was born in Hope, Arkansas, and served as governor of the state between 1979 and 1981 and then again between 1983 and 1992. He also taught at the University of Arkansas’ law school between 1973 and 1976, before becoming the state’s Attorney General.

Jones is the former captain of the Arkansas Razorbacks national championship-winning team of 1964. While born in Los Angeles, he was raised in North Little Rock, Arkansas.

Some reports point to the pair meeting somewhere between the late 1970s and the 1980s, with their relationship becoming much more public once Jones bought the Dallas Cowboys in 1989. They both likely shared similar social groups in the 1970s and 1980s Arkansas.

There’s even one rumor, stemming from a Hillary Clinton campaign ad for the 2016 presidential campaign, that Jerry Jones helped the President and Secretary Clinton paint their house on California Street in Fayetteville in the 1970s.

This was actually a different longtime friend of President and Secretary Clinton, Jerry C. Jones, a legal colleague from the Rose Law Firm, not the Dallas Cowboys owner.
