The Philadelphia Eagles traded with the Dallas Cowboys for the No. 19 pick in the NFL Draft to get USC’s Makai Lemon. To do this, they gave Jerry Jones’ team picks No. 23 (first round), No. 114 (fourth round), No. 137 (fourth round), and a 2027 seventh-round pick.
Some fans weren’t just sure that these were the best decisions by the Philadelphia Eagles.
“He’s the same height as Laura Rutledge,” joked one fan.
“Was really hoping for OL or edge help,” claimed someone else.
Others thought that picking Makai Lemon was more than okay.
“Yall are overreacting to these picks lmao,” said another person.
“Lemon is a beast , crazy hands , you guys just got another amon ra , same skill and mental toughness , I’ve followed em both since high school being local kids (SoCal) . Damn I wanted my broncos to trade up and get him , gotta hope for jakobi lane now,” said a fan in defense of Lemon.
Some fans disagreed with Philadelphia’s NFL Draft strategy.
“It’s cool they got the #1 ranked wr and all, but they’ve given up like 6 picks for Lemon and Wicks right? Must be getting a haul for AJB,” explained another person.
“Eagless got a top 15 player like I predicted because there was a run on tackles. Glad we took the best player on the board by far and didnt take a project tackle whos a much worse player. If lemon was gone maybe they Take Max . But this was the right pick. Tape wise Lemon is at worst the 3rd receiver. With an argument for 2nd. He just didnt test well. But remember Devonta Skipped testing altogether. Lemon probably goes higher if he did what smitty did,” said someone who certainly looked at the situation in depth.
Others hoped history would repeat itself.
“Last time we traded up with the Cowboys, we took Smitty over the Giants,” reminded another person.
Who did the Dallas Cowboys get after allowing the Philadelphia Eagles to grab Makai Lemon at No. 19?
Having taken Ohio State’s safety Caleb Downs in the No. 11 spot of the draft, the Dallas Cowboys continued to address their defensive needs in the 2026 NFL Draft.
After trading with the Philadelphia Eagles, the Cowboys chose UCF edge Malachi Lawrence at No. 23. Lawrence comes from a First Team All-Big 12 season with the Knights in 2025.
The trade allowed Dallas to get further value in the current draft, while still addressing their defensive needs.
