Drake Maye has been instrumental to the New England Patriots’ Super Bowl run.
The second-year quarterback had one of the biggest turnaround seasons as he led last year’s last-place Patriots all the way to the big game this season with a win over the Denver Broncos this past weekend for the AFC title.
In the snowy game, Maye minimally used his arm, throwing the ball just 21 total times. He was active as a runner with 10 carries for 65 yards and the Pats’ lone touchdown. However, he may have to rely on his arm more going against a Seattle Seahawks team in the Super Bowl, but there’s some concern about his throwing shoulder heading into the game.
What Happened To Drake Maye?
During Sunday’s AFC Championship game against the Denver Broncos, Drake Maye took a hit to his shoulder as he was being tackled down to the ground on a run. He never left the game, but he was favoring his right shoulder after the game by holding it with his left arm in the team’s post game press conference.
Will Drake Maye Play In Super Bowl?
Yes, it doesn’t sound like there’s a threat or chance Drake Maye will be inactive for the Super Bowl.
Head coach Mike Vrabel spoke about Maye today and didn’t say that he was hurt or got injured. He acknowledged that nobody is 100% this time of the year and didn’t say anything that would confirm Maye suffering an injury.
Luckily for Maye and everyone else involved, there will be an additional week of rest as the Super Bowl will be played on Sunday, Feb. 8. This should provide even more optimism for the Patriots on Maye’s health.
