Drake Maye Injury Update: Insider Reveals Patriots Star’s Recovery Status Amid NFL League Meetings

New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye suffered an injury to his right shoulder in the AFC Championship game against the Denver Broncos, and the injury hindered his play in Super Bowl LX.

Maye landed on his shoulder on a 13-yard run late in the AFC Championship game that limited his availability in practice leading up to the Super Bowl. The injury wasn’t significant enough to keep Maye sidelined, but he did take a painkilling injection to his shoulder prior to Super Bowl kickoff. The Pats lost to the Seattle Seahawks 29-13 and Maye didn’t have his best game despite some fourth-quarter success.

As the Patriots have turned the page to this upcoming season, they got a positive update from Executive Vice President of Player Personnel Eliot Wolf regarding the status of Maye. Appearing on Up & Away with Kay Adams, Wolf said Maye will be a full participant in the team’s offseason program.

“He’s fine, he’s ready to go,” said Wolf. “Focusing on getting some improvement in some of the areas that we identified and expect him to be a full participant in the offseason program.”

Patriots Have Made Multiple Moves In Free Agency This Offseason

The New England Patriots may have made it to the Super Bowl this past season, but they’ve still been big spenders and busy in free agency.

The Patriots added a number of key free agents such as wide receiver Romeo Doubs, safety Kevin Byard, and guard Alijah Vera-Tucker.

New England also lost many key players such as center Garrett Bradbury (trade),wide receiver Stefon Diggs (release), linebacker K’Lavon Chaison, and defensive tackle Khyiris Tonga.

The Patriots even released veteran backup quarterback Josh Dobbs while resigning Tommy DeVito, potentially paving the way to add a young, rookie quarterback for depth.

The Patriots, being AFC Champions and losing in the Super Bowl, own pick No. 31 in the first-round and hold the 63rd overall pick in the second round of the draft, picking in a much different position than last year. They’ll have to make their picks count even more, selecting as late as they do in the draft.
