The San Francisco 49ers used the 33rd overall pick of the NFL draft to select De’Zhaun Stribling, marking this their first pick of the draft.
The 49ers chose to make trades that would give them some much-needed clout heading into Day 2 of the draft, and it’s clear that their plan paid off.
They kicked off the new day of the draft with a move for De’Zhaun Stribling, whom perhaps few might have had going at no. 33 overall, but it’s definitely a smart move. It gives the 49ers more flexibility and head coach Kyle Shanahan some much-needed cover at wide receiver, where Stribling has been terrific for Lane Kiffin’s Ole Miss Rebels.
But perhaps what’s cooler is that fans of the 49ers can point to this having secondary ramifications, too. Because ESPN confirmed that Stribling’s uncle is no stranger to the limelight.
That’s right, Stribling’s uncle is none other than former wrestler, Don Muraco. Muraco was prominent in the 1970s and the 1980s, making his name in the days of the wrestling territories and gradually coming up to the World Wrestling Federation, now known as WWE to fans.
Muraco was a talented athlete at a time when you just didn’t see enough of those in wrestling, so it should come as no surprise that his family genes consist of someone like De’Zhaun Stribling.
Don Muraco Was Inducted Into the WWE Hall of Fame
Stribling’s uncle, Muraco, was enshrined in history in 2007 when he was inducted into the WWE’s Hall of Fame by his and Yokozuna’s former manager, Mr. Fuji.
It recognized Muraco’s indelible efforts in the wrestling ring and immortalized him in the eyes of the fans for achievements that truly deserve the honor.
Stribling will be keen on achieving similar greatness with the 49ers when he gets going with the franchise following the NFL Draft.
