Officially, Carson Beck has slid out of the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft. The former Miami and Georgia quarterback will have to wait until Friday night to see if any franchise wishes to get his services in the second or third round of the event. The Miami quarterback was considered a fringe first-round pick before the event.
One of the reasons that some NFL teams are reportedly not sold on the Hurricanes man is his personality and attitude issues. His relationship with a former Miami women’s basketball player, Hanna Cavinder, is a perfect example of it.
The couple started dating in July 2024, and he seemingly moved to Miami in January 2025 to be closer to her. The relationship was public, with the couple repeatedly making headlines, including one instance of their luxury cars being stolen.
Hanna Cavinder and Carson Beck broke up in April 2025, among allegations that the quarterback had cheated on her. However, the former basketball player-turned-influencer maintains that she didn’t break up with him because of the alleged cheating, but due to several personality issues that make him a difficult person to deal with.
“He would, like, flip off people at the bar, and I’d be embarrassed,” said Hanna back in 2025. “So I broke up with him, and all this cheating s— came out. I had no idea. I didn’t break up with him because he cheated. I broke up with because of who he was.”
She also said that during a couple’s trip with her sister, Haley Cavinder, and her fiancé, Dallas Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson, Beck was always on his phone and made no attempt to get in Haley and Jake’s good graces. She also said he expected people to want to have photos taken with him, which struck her as a bit egotistical.
Which teams could be interested in Carson Beck?
It’s understandable why some general managers would pause before deciding to include someone with this kind of personality on their rosters, particularly to fill in a QB2 spot. This kind of attitude for a backup quarterback can be incredibly disruptive for a team’s dynamics.
The prime candidates to get Beck should be the New York Jets. The Jets were reportedly interested in getting Alabama’s Ty Simpson. However, the Rams made a surprising pick at No. 13 and grabbed him earlier than anyone thought. The Jets thus grabbed Omar Cooper Jr. at No. 16, in their second pick of the night.
The Jets need a new starting quarterback, as their only realistic choice at the moment is Geno Smith. The two remaining, somewhat pro-ready, signal-callers in the draft are Beck and Penn State’s Drew Allar. The Miami Dolphins and Pittsburgh Steelers could be other teams that could take a look at Carson Beck.
