Former NFL Star Dez Bryant Makes Comment About Wizards After AJ Dybantsa’s Arrival

BYU’s AJ Dybantsa was selected first overall by the Washington Wizards in the 2026 NBA draft. In the months leading up to the draft, Dybantsa was widely projected to be the No. 1 pick. Tonight, the Wizards made it official.

Dybantsa’s draft made a lot of noise on social media as fans and athletes shared their take on it. Former NFL wide receiver Dez Bryant also chimed in on the online discussion with a post on X.

Bryant is impressed by how strong the Wizards roster looks now after the addition of Dybantsa.

“The Wizards got a nice squad!” he wrote.

Dybantsa also received a warm welcome from the Wizards’ point guard Trae Young, who joined the team earlier this year. Young played for the Atlanta Hawks and was traded mid-game in exchange for CJ McCollum and Corey Kispert.

“Welcome to DC @AJ_Dybantsa!! The story has been written🙏🏽 The City is Ready! We’ll talk about that # soon,” he wrote on X.

Dybantsa played just one year of college basketball with the BYU Cougars. He averaged 25.5 points, 6.8 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.1 steals per game. He shot 51% from the field and 33% from the three-point range.

Dybantsa knew that he had the potential to be the No. 1 draft pick, and he had talked about what it would mean to him ahead of the draft.

“It would mean a lot. It’s been countless hours, countless days, countless months. You know, all the sacrifices I made, that my family had to make, that my parents had to make, years and years of this work, so I probably just mean a lot. Who knows, I might cry,” Dybantsa said, as per WUSA9.

The Wizards have had a terrible run in the league, finishing regular seasons near the bottom of the Eastern Conference table over the last five years. With Dybantsa bringing in new energy, they’d hope to get back on track in the near future.

Dez Bryant Wants the Saints to Trade for Shedeur Sanders

Tony Rizzo recently sparked a new wave of controversy by stating that, in his opinion, Shedeur Sanders isn’t viewed as a franchise quarterback by the team leadership. Since then, rumors have been floating around about a potential trade.

Amid the chaos, Dez Bryant took to X to share his thoughts on a possible trade for Sanders.

“I think he’s a franchise QB and getting him out of Cleveland will be a plus for him… the Saints would be a great fit for him!” he wrote.

There’s no concrete evidence that Sanders is in any trade talks. However, the Dez Bryant post has gone viral, making fans wonder if being traded would work in his favor.
