Shedeur Sanders is currently fighting veteran player Deshaun Watson for the Cleveland Browns’ starting quarterback job in the 2026 NFL season, with many analysts believing the former Colorado star would have to settle for the backup role.
ESPN Cleveland’s Tony Rizzo made a bold claim on Monday, saying that conversations are going on in the league about Sanders’ availability.
Talking about the situation, former Browns cornerback, Joe Haden said in a recent “Deebo and Joe Nightcap” episode that if the Browns let Sanders go, he would lose complete faith in the franchise, arguing that it doesn’t make sense as the fans haven’t even seen the former Colorado star perform after his rookie year.
“This right here pisses me off because this is the stuff I’m talking about, where, at the end of the day, if it’s just radio chatter, okay, but why can’t we be happy for a second that we have a quarterback, and now we’re talking about trading Shedeur? We haven’t even got a chance to see if he can play.” Haden said.
“Things come up all the time. I just hope and pray that if they really do this and the Browns really get rid of Shedeur, I would lose complete faith.”
Analyst Bluntly Questions Shedeur Sanders’ Talent
Analyst Jason Lloyd shared his blunt thoughts on Shedeur Sanders’ ability to win games for the Cleveland Browns on Tuesday.
Lloyd shared that he doesn’t think Sanders is good enough to start for the Browns or win anything substantial in the next few years.
“I don’t think he’s good enough to start for this team and win anything of substance over the course of the next however many years,” Lloyd said.
Talking about potentially trading Sanders, Lloyd said that there wasn’t much of a point in the franchise’s decision to pick him at all.
Lloyd further added that once all the “nonsense” around Sanders is removed, he can be a good NFL backup.
