Dawson Knox Contract: How Much Will Josh Allen’s Teammate Earn With Bills?

Some had feared that Dawson Knox could have become a cap casualty this offseason. Instead, Josh Allen’s tight end is in line to be back in 2026.

According to a Tuesday report by Jeremy Fowler and ESPN, Knox was set to cost Buffalo $17.1 million. Releasing Knox would have saved the team $9.7 million in cap space. Instead, both sides found a way to keep the tight end around. However, how much was the deal worth? Here’s what we know so far.

How Much Will Dawson Knox Make With Buffalo Bills?

The numbers of the deal do not appear to be public yet. However, Spotrac has made an early estimate of a front-loaded $17 million cap hit upfront with $9.9 million in base salary, with $1.5 million as a roster bonus and various other bells and whistles.

How Long Is Dawson Knox’s New Contract?

The length of the contract is confirmed to be three years in length. The deal will conclude after the 2028 season in 2029, when the tight end will be heading into an age 33 season.

Dawson Knox Eyes Improving Production Streak Alive After New Competition

The new contract comes after Dawson Knox saw his production increase for the second consecutive season. In 2024, he finished with 311 receiving yards, up from 186 yards in 2023. In 2025, his production spiked again with 417 yards and four receiving touchdowns.

The new contract is set to give the tight end a clear chance to earn even more production, but it might be a bit more crowded for the tight end, thanks to the team’s new addition.

The Bills added DJ Moore and a 2026 fifth-round pick in a trade with the Chicago Bears at the cost of a second-round pick just before the start of free agency. Many view Moore as the team’s new top receiver or at least someone who will compete for the role in July and August. Either way, he will also compete with Knox for catches wherever he lands on the depth chart.
