Ben Johnson and the Chicago Bears put the NFC on notice in 2025, but the team is back to 0-0 ahead of a fresh campaign. Despite the opponent lists being known over the last four months, the order of the showdowns and the timing could have a big impact on how the season feels.
Will the season be front-loaded, back-loaded, or spread evenly? Will Chicago be forced to travel heavily in one stretch of the season? When is the team’s bye week? There are still plenty of questions, but Mike Garafolo, an NFL insider, just dropped a potential hint in a Monday post on X.
“Seahawks home opponents without a Week 1 assignment as of now: Cardinals, Chiefs Chargers, Bears, Patriots,” he posted. “Not feeling a SB rematch so early and Mahomes’ (uncertainty). Has long felt like Chicago to me. We’ll find out soon.”
Of course, as an insider exposed to classified NFL information regularly, Garafolo could have an unconscious conclusion based on something he learned previously that he had since forgotten or thought not to be reportable.
That nugget could have informed his feelings in a way he is not consciously aware of. As such, Garafolo’s gut feeling should be taken seriously as a real chance.
However, before the schedule comes the team’s way, interest from another receiver could also be on the way.
Former Washington Commanders WR Pushed to Join Chicago Bears
The Chicago Bears moved on from Keenan Allen in the 2025 offseason, leaving the de facto veteran depth option open for another veteran to slide in. If the team wants another Keenan Allen-like veteran around, a former Washington Commanders receiver is still available.
Deebo Samuel was pushed to join the team by an ESPN analyst, according to a Thursday post on X by Bearszn.
“ESPN has listed slot receiver as the Bears biggest need following the draft and names WR Deebo Samuel as a potentially ‘interesting’ signing in Chicago,” the post read. “🤔 I think the Bears are fine with Walker, Raymond and Zavion Thomas, but you never know with Ben Johnson. 👀”
The post included a screenshot of the ESPN article.
“Deebo Samuel would be a really interesting free agent signing here,” the post read.
Chicago finished 10th in passing yards per game in 2025, so there was room for improvement. Could Samuel be the final piece?
