We got the answer to who will be the new quarterback of the New York Jets. It’s none other than former Clemson man, Cade Klubnik. After trading up in the fourth round to make a second pick in it, the Jets selected Klubnik with the 110th overall pick of the 2026 NFL Draft.
This is a risk for the NFL franchise, as the signal-caller comes from a disappointing final season. Earlier in his college career, he was considered to have the potential to become a first-round pick.
It’s also a risk for him, as he will be playing for one of the most dysfunctional franchises in the league. The silver lining is that he will likely get a chance to start from early on, and there’s no set starter for the Jets in 2026.
Regardless, this seems like a moment for him to celebrate. Only a minority of college football players ever get to play at the professional level. It seems this is how Klubnik’s girlfriend, Macey Matthews, is taking it. In her latest Instagram story, she is seen taking a selfie with the Clemson quarterback while wearing a New York Jets hat. In it, she wrote:

If Cade Klubnik is hesitant at all about being selected by the New York Jets, he isn’t showing it. Quite the contrary, he seemed extremely glad the team traded up to get him this Saturday afternoon.
“It means a lot to me,” Klubnik said of the trade-up. “It shows their interest in me, and I was really hoping for this. I kind of woke up this morning thinking I hope the Jets pick me. I had a feeling they were going to pick me.”
“Really faced a lot of adversity this past year,” Klubnik said. “For me, I figured out how to take a team that’s not winning and transform and go win games to finish with four straight wins at the end of the year. So, I’m all about pushing the guys around me. And I’m a winner and I’m a competitor, and I hate to lose. So, if we’re not winning – we’re going to find a way to win.”
He also said that he felt a connection with the New York Jets even ahead of the NFL Draft, due to some meetings he had with the team’s coaching staff.
