“You Cannot Pay C.J. Stroud Elite QB Money”: Fans Lose Patience With Texans Star Following Costly Interception in Divisional Round

C.J. Stroud’s Houston Texans are off to a terrible start against the New England Patriots in the Divisional Round matchup. At halftime, they were trailing 10-21 and had several poorly executed plays.

What frustrated fans the most was an interception that Stroud threw. Early in the game, Stroud’s poor throw cost his team, which made fans wonder why he was in the lineup to begin with.

Stroud had multiple interceptions before halftime, four to be exact. The quarterback was clearly having a bad outing. The problem, however, was that he was doing that in a playoff game.

“You cannot pay CJ stroud Elite QB money,” a fan wrote.

“Houston’s defense can only do so much erasing of CJ Stroud’s mistakes. If he keeps playing like this, they’re cooked,” a fan wrote.

“Texans not making it to the Super Bowl cause CJ Stroud playing like he’s ready to be back in Houston,” a fan wrote.

“People thought I was crazy when I said that if Stroud would falter in a game in the playoffs we’d see Mills. But, damn, Schultz and Collins are out. Might have to just live with it,” a fan wrote.

“I’m being really, really, really serious. The Texans should have started Davis Mills over CJ Stroud. They just didn’t have the guts,” insider John Frascella wrote.

In response to Frascella’s post, some fans asked what he would say if Davis Mills also fails to perform?

“Well what if Davis Mills to the Jets is a prediction I made and want to happen so I look smart?” a fan wrote.

At the end of the third quarter, the Texans managed to get closer to the Patriots’ score. They were trailing 16-21 while heading into the fourth quarter of the game.

    C.J. Stroud’s Contract Extension

The Texans, so far, have enjoyed one of their best season runs ever. This has been anchored by several players, and those players are soon going to be rewarded for their performances.

Stroud and Will Anderson Jr. are up for contract extension, and as per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Texans will soon put it in motion.

“C.J. Stroud is also extension eligible,” Rapoport said. “My best guess is that it probably happens next offseason.”

“Will Anderson Jr., he contract extension eligible starting this offseason. My understanding is the team is expected to look at that. A deal which would likely make him one the, if not the highest-paid edge rushers in the NFL,” he said.

It’ll be interesting to see if Stroud’s struggles today affect the possible contract extension.
