Rome Odunze’s availability in the Divisional Round matchup has been one of the biggest storylines for Chicago. The Chicago Bears will host the Los Angeles Rams at Soldier Field for the last game of the Divisional Round today.
Both teams have had injury struggles in the lead-up to the game. As for Odunze, he has been dealing with a foot injury for a while now, and it has erupted once again right before the Rams game.
This week, Odunze had limited participation in two practice sessions. On Friday, he did a full session, but that only made matters worse as it aggravated his foot injury. In the final injury report, he was listed as questionable.
So, is Rome Odunze playing today against the Rams? A questionable status on the injury report can go either way. The team could decide to rest him for the game, or he’d be asked to lace up. It will be a game-time decision.
As of now, there’s no confirmation on Odunze from the team. In his opinion, the wide receiver is ready for the game and has been looking forward to playing in the Divisional Round.
“There was soreness, but at this part of the season, it’s all hands on deck and play through it. I’ll ride it ‘til the wheels fall off,” he said.
The Bears have several players on the roster who are currently dealing with injuries. Their receiving core, however, is largely intact. So, even if the team decides to rest him, they can possibly win this game with the remaining options.
However, players often push themselves to the limit in the playoffs. It wouldn’t be surprising if Odunze steps on the field to help his team qualify for the Conference Championship round.
Injury Report for the Bears vs Rams Matchup
While both teams have players dealing with injuries, their respective injury reports aren’t drastic. They have some key players listed as questionable, but they can still see game time if the coaching staff thinks they’re ready.
The Bears CB Nick McCloud has been ruled out for the game due to a groin injury, and they have two other players listed as questionable.
- LB Jalen Reeves-Maybin (questionable)
- WR Rome Odzune (foot; questionable)
- OT Ozzy Trapilo (knee; injured reserve)
- LB TJ Edwards (lower leg; injured reserve)
The Rams, on the other hand, have a comparatively healthier roster for the game.
- DE Desjuan Johnson (illness; questionable)
- QB Jimmy Garoppolo (back; questionable)
- CB Ahkello Witherspoon (shoulder; injured reserve)
- LB Shaun Dolac (knee; injury reserve)
The biggest thing for the Rams is that their star quarterback, Matthew Stafford, has been cleared to play despite his sprained index finger.
