Who will be the Cleveland Browns’ next head coach?
The Browns are having a harder time finding out their next head coach than most teams that are/were in the head coaching market this offseason.
Cleveland was informed this morning that Jacksonville Jaguars offensive coordinator Grant Udinksi withdrew from the Browns’ vacancy, marking the third candidate to back out of the position (Jesse Minter, Mike McDaniel.)
The Browns are currently one of four teams that needs to hire a new head coach.
4 Head Coaching Options For Cleveland Browns
Jim Schwartz
Cleveland Browns defensive coordinator is the only known in-house coaching candidate for the Browns. He’s been the team’s DC the past three seasons. He’s completed two interviews already with the Browns for the gig.
Nate Scheelhaase
Los Angeles Rams offensive coordinator Nate Scheelhaase is viewed as one of the favorites to land the Browns’ head coaching job. Under Scheelhaase, the Rams have had one of the best offenses in each of the last two seasons. He can be viewed as a guy that can reshape the Browns’ offense and maybe quarterback situation. He interviewed with the Browns on Jan. 16.
Anthony Lynn
Washington Commanders run game coordinator/running backs coach Anthony Lynn is another possible candidate. He’s had success an offensive coordinator in multiple systems and has head head coaching experience, having coached the Chargers in the past. He was the most recent candidate interviewed, having been interviewed by the team on Jan. 25.
Aden Durde
The English-born Aden Durde began coaching in the NFL in 2014. He became Seattle’s defensive coordinator in 2024, and has assembled one of the best defenses in each of the last two seasons. The Browns interviewed Durde on Jan. 9, and could interview him again after the Super Bowl.
