Jarrett Stidham was handed the responsibility to carry the Denver Broncos to the Super Bowl. Stidham became the starting quarterback for the team after Bo Nix got injured in the Divisional Round game against the Bills.
Playing at home for the Conference Championship and the weight of the franchise on his shoulder, Stidham had a lot of pressure to perform yesterday. The quarterback did his best in a low-scoring game.
He went 17 of 31 for 133 yards, one touchdown, and one interception, but couldn’t avoid the 7-10 loss. With that, the hopes of the Broncos to win the Super Bowl this year, first in over a decade, and fourth overall, ended.
The fans had their hearts broken against the New England Patriots. The Broncos were one of the strongest teams this season and were a legitimate contender to win the Super Bowl. After the loss, Stidham’s wife, Kennedy Stidham, penned a heartfelt note.
“we love this team, we love this city. thank yall for the kindest support all week. this city is so special, this team is so special. we wanted this so badly for everyone,” she wrote.

The loss was shocking for the Broncos players as well. They believed they were the better team and should’ve won the game, especially at home. Linebacker Nik Bonitto shared his frustration after the loss.
“It’s Sickening to think that all we fought through this year, all the games we had to win, knowing we were definitely the better team, but it just didn’t work out that way today,” he said.
After defeating the Broncos, the New England Patriots have advanced to the Super Bowl, where they’ll play against the Seattle Seahawks for the title.
Jarrett Stidham Had Some Positive Takeaways
It’s tough to imagine what must be going through the minds of the Broncos players. After putting in the work and dominating games for months, they came so close to the ultimate glory only to fall short.
Stidham, who lived in the shadow of Nix for most of the season, had a few positive takeaways from the experience. He stated that being on such a big stage is why he started playing football.
“It was fun to get back out there with the guys,” Stidham SAID. “Moments like this, this is why you play the game, why you grow up and play the game of football, all the long hours that you put into it. … This is why we do what we do. … I was super excited for the opportunity, just hate that we fell short.”
The Conference Championship game was the first start for quarterback Jarrett Stidham. This feat was achieved previously by Roger Staubach back in 1972.
