Bo Nix Injury Update: What Happened To Broncos QB?

Bo Nix helped the Denver Broncos secure a spot in the Conference Championship. The Broncos defeated the Buffalo Bills 33-30 in overtime with Nix completing 26 of his 46 passes for 279 yards and three touchdowns.

Unfortunately, this is where his journey ends this season. The quarterback suffered a broken bone in his ankle toward the end of the game, and he will no longer be available for the Broncos for the rest of the season.

Nix suffered the injury on the second-to-last play in overtime. At the time, it didn’t seem like he had a serious injury. Nix was seen walking gingerly toward the tunnel, but no one thought it was because of a broken bone.

After the game, head coach Sean Payton, during his media interaction, revealed that Nix had suffered a broken bone in his ankle and will undergo surgery for the same on Tuesday. Jarrett Stidham will replace him for the remaining games.

Losing Nix is a big blow for the Broncos. They have been one of the most dominant teams of the season, and Nix, despite being just two seasons old in the league, has shown incredible control and composure in his game.

The timing of the injury makes the Broncos’ situation even worse. Now they are just two games away from winning their fourth Super Bowl, first in over a decade. The last time the Broncos won a Super Bowl was in 2015.

They played the Carolina Panthers for the title and secured a comfortable 24-10 win. A win in the Conference Championship round would secure their next Super Bowl appearance, but now they’ll have to do it without Nix in the lineup.

Sean Payton Said Bo Nix’s Replacement is Ready

In Nix’s absence, Payton will have a difficult task ahead. Their opponent for the Conference Championship will be decided on Sunday. The Broncos will play the winner of the Houston Texans vs the New England Patriots matchup.

The Conference Championship game will be on Sunday, January 25. So, Payton has nearly a week to get Nix’s replacement ready and in position to win the game. As per the head coach, Jarrett Stidham is ready for the occasion.

“Stiddy’s ready to go,” he said.

Stidham has mostly watched from the sidelines while Nix and Co. have dominated games throughout the regular season and the playoffs. Now, the responsibility will be on him to get the job done. Considering the pressure of the moment, it won’t be an easy job to execute.
