Can Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl Halftime Show Be the Most Watched in History? Viewership Projections Explored

6-time Grammy-winning singer and pop star Bad Bunny’s electric halftime show performance on Sunday night was most definitely the highlight of the Super Bowl. The game saw the Seattle Seahawks emerge victorious over the New England Patriots with a scoreline of 13-29 to win their historic second Super Bowl at Levi’s Stadium.

While 13 minutes may not sound like long, Bad Bunny, during his halftime show, owned every moment of it with the performances, including messages of unity, inclusivity, and a lot of culture-rich tropes.

Bad Bunny’s halftime performance, which is also being called the “Benito Bowl,” raked in a lot of numbers as far as the overall viewership is concerned. While the official numbers are yet to come out, Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl LX performance could very well be the most-viewed showing in the history of the league.

With rapper Kendrick Lamar’s performance last year, raking in a total of 133.5 million viewers, it became the most-watched halftime show performance in history. However, it seems like Bad Bunny’s eventful halftime entertainer is apparently primed to cross the 135 million mark.

While the 135 million number is yet to become official, the fact that the pop star’s performance is even in contention to become the highest-viewed spectacle is a record in itself, considering the amount of pushback it received initially.

Turning Point USA, a conservative nonprofit organization started by late right-wing political activist Charlie Kirk, put together their own all-American halftime show, which featured the likes of Lee Brice, Kid Rock, Brantley Gilbert, and Gabby Barrett.

However, TPUSA’s halftime show only garnered a little over 6 million views, a considerably lower figure than Animal Planet’s dog rescue-themed Puppy Bowl last year, which compiled close to 13 million views.

Adin Ross Calls Bad Bunny’s SB Performance “Way Better” Than Kendrick Lamar’s

While Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl performance has yet to officially become the highest-viewed halftime show, it has already become a favourite among many.

Streamer Adin Ross, during a livestream post-Super Bowl, called Bad Bunny’s performance way better. He further justified his reasoning by highlighting how Kendrick’s performance was more centered around his ongoing beef with rapper Drake around that time.

“I will say this, can we all agree that Bad Bunny’s performance was way better than Kendrick’s? Can we?” He said. “And I’ll explain to you guys why it’s better. Kendrick made his halftime performance about Drake”, Ross stated.

Bad Bunny’s halftime performance also saw singer Lady Gaga make a special appearance as the two put together a salsa performance during the show.
