The Detroit Lions concluded their 2025 NFL season after finishing fourth in the NFC North with an overall record of 9-8. Part of this not-so-ideal finish could be attributed to injuries plaguing the team, with the likes of TE Sam LaPorta and DE Alim McNeil, alongside a few more names, not featuring for a significant portion of the season.
On the injury front, it looks like the Detroit-based franchise has picked up where it left off from last season, as head coach Dan Campbell and his side will now venture into the new season with the absence of a high-potential rookie.
WR Kendrick Law is slated to miss the entirety of the 2026 campaign for the Detroit Lions after sustaining a torn ACL while taking part in non-contact drills with the franchise.
This devastating news has, but naturally, left a lot of Detroit fans heartbroken, with many of them expressing their distress on X.
“Here we go again. Another season ruined with injuries?” said a fan.
“That sucks I had my eye on him as a deep sleeper for the Lions this year! Speedy Recover,y Kendrick”, wrote a fan.
“Here’s praying he has a full recovery. #BBN“, stated a fan.
“Dang, that sucks. My favorite YAC WR in the entire draft. Deebo-esque”, commented a fan.
“Season hasn’t even started yet, and the injuries are already here”, said another fan.
“Gotta start somewhere. I’ve been saying all off-season. Everybody is just going to get injured again”, wrote another fan.
“Oh, that’s awful 😖”, stated another fan.
“no wayyyyyyyyy mannnnnnnnn”, commented another fan.
After concluding a fairly successful CFB stint with the Kentucky Wildcats, Law was drafted by the Lions in the fifth round of the 2026 Draft on a 4-year, $4.8 million rookie contract.
Ben Bartch, Kerby Joseph, Brian Branch Headline Lions’ Injury Watch Ahead of 2026 NFL
In addition to Law’s ACL injury, the Detroit Lions are also currently navigating an undisclosed injury sustained by OL Ben Bartch. The linebacker, who suffered a foot sprain last season while he was with the 49ers, has now missed a couple of public practice sessions for his new franchise.
Meanwhile, the safety duo of Brian Branch and Kerby Joseph continues their rehab ahead of the 2026 season. Head coach Dan Campbell also revealed how the team is trying to assess and ease Joseph into on-field training and is in no hurry whatsoever.
