Andy Reid Drops Cryptic Comment on Chiefs Star TE Travis Kelce’s Potential Retirement

Travis Kelce‘s retirement talk has been making the headlines ever since we entered the last leg of the 2025 season, and continues to leave the fans holding their breath as we sit in the offseason.

The Chiefs’ star Tight End, who is currently 36 years old, has talked about a potential retirement decision a few times since the last season ended; however, he did confirm that while the franchise has intel into his current thought process, he has not yet reached a decision.

While the Chiefs fans hope their star Tight End comes back for another year, their head coach, Andy Reid, has dropped a cryptic statement on the potential retirement on Friday:

“There is communication, that’s the main thing,” Reid said to Fox 4 News Kansas City reporter Harold R. Kuntz. “I’ve said this before to you. As long as there is communication, I’m good. That means people want to move forward and I think that’s where [Kelce] is.”

Ex NFL GM Mike Tannenbaum Shares Blunt Advice to the Chiefs Amid Travis Kelce Retirement Rumors

The ex-Jets general manager, Mike Tannenbaum, recently caught flak from fans over his take on what the Chiefs should do about Travis Kelce amid the star Tight End’s retirement rumors.

Tannenbaum bluntly shared that if he were a part of the decision-making group at Kansas City, he would let Kelce go.

The ex-Jets general manager also highlighted the lack of explosive plays from Kelce observed in the 2025 season and suggested the Chiefs get a faster, younger talent to replace him.

“I would move on from Travis Kelce and let me tell you why, When you’re in the front office, you have to project what a player is going to do, not what they’ve done,” Tannenbaum began.

“I’ve made that mistake countless times in my career and Travis Kelce is a first ballot Hall of Famer, But when you watch him and make an honest and sober evaluation of his 2025 performance, clearly his best days are behind him.” he added.

Chiefs’ Chris Jones didn’t appreciate Tannenbaum’s comments and boldly reposted the clip on his X (previously known as Twitter account) with the caption, “Shut Up.”
