Much has been spoken about the 2026 NFL Draft’s lack of depth at quarterback. Beyond Fernando Mendoza, there doesn’t seem to be any generational talent at the position. Nonetheless, that doesn’t mean the draft will be unimportant. Almost every other position has incredible depth and versatility.
Let us look at the best player at each position ahead of the 2026 NFL Draft.
Quarterbacks
Here, 2025 Heisman Trophy winner Fernando Mendoza is by far the most important prospect and almost a lock on the first overall pick. Dante Moore was expected to be the second-best quarterback in this class, but he later backed off and committed to another year at Oregon. The draft is set to be light on quarterbacks this year, but here are the top prospects.
- Fernando Mendoza – Indiana
- Trinidad Chambliss – Ole Miss
- Carson Beck – Miami
- Ty Simpson – Alabama
- Garrett Nussmeier – LSU
Wide Receivers
While the 2026 NFL Draft is light on top quarterbacks, there are at least three first-round prospects for the wide receiver spot – Ohio State’s Carnell Tate, USC Makai Lemon, and Arizona State’s Jordyn Tyson.
- Carnell Tate – Ohio State
- Jordyn Tyson – Arizona State
- Makai Lemon – USC
- Denzel Boston – Washington
- KC Concepcion – Texas A&M
Running Backs
This is another spot where the class is considered extremely good, with the top prospect being Notre Dame’s Jeremiyah Love, who is expected to be a transformational and generational talent.
- Jeremiyah Love – Notre Dame
- Jadarian Price – Notre Dame
- Jonah Coleman – Washington
- Emmett Johnson – Nebraska
- Demond Claiborne – Wake Forest
Tight Ends
Yet another position that will offer tons of versatility and depth to teams in the upcoming 2026 NFL Draft. Oregon’s Kenyon Sadiq is expected to be picked among tight ends in this draft, but there will be a wealth of options to pick from otherwise.
- Kenyon Sadiq – Oregon
- Eli Stowers – Vanderbilt
- Lake McRee – USC
- Max Klare – Ohio State
- Dallen Bentley – Utah
Offensive Linemen
While the class is strong overall in offensive linemen, it’s particularly good at the offensive tackle position. There, prospects like Alabama’s Kadyn Proctor, Miami’s Francis Mauigoa, and Utah’s Spencer Fano take center stage.
- Kadyn Proctor – Alabama
- Francis Mauigoa – Miami
- Spencer Fano – Utah
- Connor Lew – Auburn
- Olaivavega Ioane – Penn State
Linebackers
The Ohio State Buckeyes are the ones to make this category highly competitive, bringing on the two best prospects at linebacker. These are Arvell Reese and Sonny Styles, both of whom are likely to be taken in the first round of the draft.
- Arvell Reese – Ohio State
- Sonny Styles – Ohio State
- CJ Allen – Georgia
- Jake Golday – Cincinnati
- Anthony Hill Jr. – Texas
Cornerbacks
The 2026 NFL Draft Class is considered to have significant depth in the first three rounds. While not the strongest ever, it’s versatile, and teams are likely to find what they want if they put cornerbacks at the top of their list of needs. LSU’s Mansoor Delane and Tennessee’s Jermod McCoy are the top prospects on offer.
-
- Jermod McCoy – Tennessee
- Mansoor Delane – LSU
- Colton Hood – Tennessee
- Avieon Terrell – Clemson
- Brandon Cisse – South Carolina
Safeties
Caleb Downs alone makes this section of the draft worth it. He’s likely going to be a generational talent for whichever team gets hold of him. Dillon Thieneman (Oregon), AJ Haulcy (LSU), and Kamari Ramsey (USC) also make the safeties class highly competitive.
- Caleb Downs – Ohio State
- Dillon Thieneman – Oregon
- AJ Haulcy – LSU
- Kamari Ramsey – USC
- Emmanuel McNeil-Warren – Toledo
