Steph Curry and Draymond Green Face Increased Accountability as Steve Kerr’s Return to Warriors Depends on Key Factors

Steve Kerr’s future has hung in the air since the Golden State Warriors’ season finished, and the latest update connects his return to Steph Curry and Draymond Green. Several rumors and speculations suggested that the Warriors’ last play-in game was Kerr’s last with the team. However, he has reportedly presented a few conditions for his return to the team.

Curry was out of the final phase of the regular season due to a right knee injury, and a lot of responsibility fell on Draymond Green for that period. Even though a lot of the Warriors’ woes were blamed on Kerr due to his earlier issues with youngsters on the roster, including Jonathan Kuminga, he reportedly believed that accountability should also lie with Curry and Green.

Fullcourtpass shared the update on X and wrote:

Steve Kerr returning to the Warriors depends on “alignment” of several key factors, per @MontePooleNBCS

    – Increased accountability for Steph Curry and Draymond Green
    – Roster construction & offseason plans
    – Freedom to speak on sociopolitical issues
    – Flexibility with coaching schemes/young players”

In addition to an increase in accountability for the team’s veterans, roster construction and the team’s long-term vision were also among the conditions. Moreover, Kerr was also criticized for speaking his mind when he spoke out against the ICE operations in the country. The conditions also mentioned his tussle with the young core of the team early in the season. He reportedly demanded the freedom and flexibility to coach the team as he deems fit.

Draymond Green calls out Steve Kerr for hindering his growth

In his latest statement, Draymond Green shocked everyone when he called out his head coach, Steve Kerr, and blamed him for not focusing on his offensive side as much. He added that when Kevin Durant was part of the Warriors franchise, not a single play was designed offensively for Green.

    In his statement, Green said:

“Not a single play that we run for me in our playbook since 2016. You think that would hinder someone as an offensive player? Of course. So at times, I go home and I think about my career and I’m happy as hell of what I’ve been able to build. But at times, sometimes I sit there and think, ‘What could I really have been if I stayed true to my game and what I really was?’”

While Draymond Green has praised Steve Kerr on multiple occasions for shaping the 4-time NBA champion into one of the best defensive players of all time, he openly shared his one gripe with the head coach. However, fans have responded with mixed reactions on social media.
