Former NBA player Dennis Rodman was one of the most divisive personalities in the league. He was notorious for his flamboyant lifestyle, which sometimes even became an issue for his team. In 1998, he went to Las Vegas to make an appearance on WWE after Game 3 of the NBA Finals between the Chicago Bulls and the Utah Jazz. Recently, he gave a stunning example of his image among fans during that time.
Rodman featured on the Fanatics Fest X Above The Rim X The GREATS interview with Dwight Howard and others on Monday. He expressed his thoughts on how fans saw his off-court personality and gave a surprising example to support his theory. The forward said:
“Every casino in Vegas from 1998 to 2010. Every casino gambling… Every sports book had my name on it. Everyone. You don’t know why, right?”
“When is Dennis going to die? Look it up, I’m not lying. My name was [in there], he said when Dennis supposed to die this year and people was betting on it”
Rodman also revealed that contrary to the popular belief, he did not indulge in drugs. He added:
“I wasn’t party like that. I never did any like c*caine or h*roin, none of that kind of stuff. Just having drinks, smoke cigars. Other than that, I never touched a drug in my life.”
Dennis Rodman was one of the Bulls’ core pieces from 1995 to 1998, contributing heavily to the team’s second three-peat run. However, his off-court personality gave rise to several controversies during his time.
Dennis Rodman says guarding LeBron James would be easy
If one of the greatest teammates of Michael Jordan is there, a question on ‘what if’ is bound to be asked. In the aforementioned interview, the forward was asked about his thoughts on King James and how he would guard him.
Rodman said:
“LeBron probably would be the easiest guy I’d ever guard in my life. The only thing he has on me is his size. He’s 6-foot-10, and I’m 6-foot-6, but that doesn’t mean anything. I’d make him go left all day long. I’d make him shoot that damn jump shot.”
Rodman was one of the fiercest defenders of his time, relentless on the boards, grabbing rebounds and defending the paint. He was awarded the Defensive Player of the Year twice in his career and was selected eight times to the All-Defensive Team.
