Kevin Durant was surrounded by his burner account controversy during the season, as its leaked messages were shared all over social media. He faced a lot of criticism for turning on his teammates, including Jabbari Smith Jr., from a burner account. After the team launched an investigation into the matter, the front office has finally decided on the verdict.
The 2-time NBA champion allegedly had a random faceless account on X and reportedly posted several questionable opinions on social media about his Houston Rockets teammates and even earlier teammates from the Golden State Warriors.
Rockets decide to move on from the burner account controversy
The Rockets franchise has decided to let it go this time, as Fullcourtpass shared the update on X and wrote:
“The Houston Rockets had a discussion about Kevin Durant burner accounts and agreed to move past it.”
The Rockets forward was out of Round 1 in the postseason due to an ankle injury. He only played Game 3, which also resulted in a loss for the team. Meanwhile, the prospects of his return are also very slim, as per the latest updates.
ESPN analyst shares Kevin Durant’s injury update
ESPN insider Shams Charania, while featuring on the Get Up show, revealed Kevin Durant’s availability for Game 6 and said:
“Sources tell me Kevin Durant will be out for Game 6. He’s not going to be playing. This bone bruise is a two-week minimum injury. He’s just over one week right now.”
The Rockets will once again take the floor without the veteran leaders, as the team looks to even the series against the Los Angeles Lakers. They currently trail 2-3, as Ime Udoka will again rely on their young core to take them through Game 6. The starters did well in the game, as all of them scored in double digits.
Reed Sheppard and Alperen Sengun have looked comfortable with each other, and Amen Thompson has done what he does best. Along with the defensive tenacity, Thompson has been active on the offensive end and often bails out the team during difficult possessions. Game 6 of the Rockets-Lakers matchup will be played at Toyota Center on April 1.
