Shannon Sharpe has praised LeBron James several times and backed him in the debate of who is the greatest player in the NBA. Several analysts have shared their takes on the GOAT debate and picked sides in such conversations. Sharpe defended his loyalty to King James and took a jab at fans discriminating among legendary players.
While reading fans’ comments in a segment on his YouTube channel, Sharpe read a remark where a fan used Sharpe’s “love” for James to refer to one of the user’s personal situations. However, the former NFL pro went off on such comments and said:
“You’ll never say this when people hype up Kobe, when people hype up Jordan. Nobody ever says, ‘I want somebody to love me as much as they love Kobe,’ so what is it about that?”
The analyst wondered that even though Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant have massive fan followings, he had never seen somebody make such remarks about them. Analyzing the reason behind the absence of such “love” between Jordan/Kobe and their fans, he added:
“Maybe because Jordan has never acknowledged them, because Kobe never acknowledged them? And LeBron James has acknowledged me? He sees me at the game, he comes and dabs me up, could that be it? Okay.”
Sharpe also highlighted that he called things at face value, but some fans did not want to change their stance when it came to their loyalties. He added that the LA Lakers’ performance lately has made several analysts eat their words.
LeBron James and Co. look to enter postseason with a winning run
The LA Lakers have now won all three away games in the extended road games run. After grabbing eight consecutive wins, this might be the best time for the team to go into probably the best run this season.
Luka Doncic has climbed up to the second spot on the MVP ladder this week after his back-to-back clutch performances. Besides leading the franchise in points (33.4) and assists (8.4), the elite guard is shooting 41% from the three-point line this month. LeBron James has also been crucial in these wins, shooting an efficient 63.1% from the field.
The Lakers will next meet the Orlando Magic, looking to extend the winning streak with a ninth win. The Magic has lost three in a row and will look to return to winning ways.
