Luka Doncic has had several on-court scuffles, and one of them was with LA Clippers point guard Kris Dunn. The Los Angeles Lakers and the Clippers have been long-time rivals, as the two teams are based in the same city. In the last game as well, Dunn came with full intensity, but Doncic and Co. survived and won, 125-122.
How did the Luka Doncic-Kris Dunn beef begin?
The Lakers and the Clippers go all-in when facing each other in the regular season. The season series is tied 2-2 now after the Lakers lost both games at Intuit Dome. Meanwhile, Kris Dunn has had a history of getting into altercations on the court.
In their last meeting three months before, Doncic and Dunn got into a verbal spat after the Slovenian scored an and-one bucket over Dunn.
The Clippers guard called out Doncic for baiting fouls. In their game last night, Dunn was filled with intensity while guarding the Lakers’ superstar. However, Doncic came all guns blazing and drained eight three-pointers to score 38 points and dish out 11 assists.
After the game, Doncic was asked about the matchup and whether history with Dunn brought out something special in him. Doncic replied:
“Obviously, we had history before, so just it gets another spark in the game. I think maybe because of that.”
Luka Doncic leads the league in scoring, and with Austin Reaves’ help on the offense, the Lakeshow looks like a completely different side. The two began the game strongly, even when the Clippers were shooting more than 75% in the first quarter.
The Lakers will next travel to Boston for another inter-conference road game. The Celtics are one of the top seeds in the Eastern Conference and one of the best in long-range efficiency. The task won’t be easy for JJ Redick and Co. However, the lineup looks healthy to win some crucial games before the playoff pressure finally steps in.
